Dear Preschool Families,

We are writing to inform you of an unexpected situation that occurred this morning at our preschool.

When staff arrived this morning, they noticed a strong odor consistent with a skunk having sprayed underneath or near the preschool building. The odor has affected the lobby and several classroom areas. Out of an abundance of caution and to minimize disruption to our students and staff, classroom spaces have been temporarily relocated to designated spaces within the middle and high school.

We have contacted our pest control contractor, who will be assessing the situation and, if skunks are found underneath the preschool, taking the appropriate steps to safely remove and relocate them. Our Facilities team is also taking additional measures to mitigate the odor and restore the preschool environment. As of 7:45 a.m., the odor has already improved significantly.

At this time, we anticipate that the preschool classrooms will be suitable for instruction tomorrow, and potentially later today. If the spaces are not ready and it becomes necessary to continue or adjust the temporary relocation of classrooms, we will notify families as soon as possible and provide additional information.

We apologize for the very late notice and any inconvenience this may cause. This was an unforeseen issue that was not discovered until staff arrived this morning. We appreciate your flexibility, patience, and understanding as we work to address the situation as quickly as possible.
